When traveling above $2,500\text{ m}$ (such as Deosai Plateau or Khunjerab Pass), drink plenty of water, avoid rapid ascents, and allow your body time to adapt. If you experience symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)—such as headache, nausea, or dizziness—descend to a lower elevation immediately.

Mountain Road Conditions

Mountain roads can experience landslips or rockfalls during heavy rainfall or spring snowmelt. Always check road conditions with local authorities or your driver before setting off on long drives along the Karakoram Highway or Jaglot-Skardu Road.

Emergency Planning & Insurance

Ensure your travel insurance covers emergency medical evacuation, high-altitude rescue, and travel delays. Keep emergency contacts for local hospital facilities in Gilgit and Skardu accessible.
